I recently purchased a Nokia 5800 touchscreen phone, but?
Today, someone called me, and before I could pick up, the phone started vibrating non-stop and froze completely. I tried to cancel the call etc, but it wouldn't move. I then had to take out the battery from the back, and turn it on again.
Why did this happen, and what can I do to prevent it from happening again ?

It could just be a minor bug or a small glitch, if it continues then I would immediately call customer service! Since it's probably a technical error they should replace it.
